I’ve always felt like I have a lot to say. Like there are all these opinions and thoughts bouncing around in my head that need to go somewhere. I think about a lot of things, probably too many things, and I follow a lot of passions, sometimes all at once. For years I’ve wanted to channel all of that through some kind of medium, and writing always felt like the right one.
But here’s what held me back. I don’t want to be another generic voice on the internet! There are a million blogs out there that all sound the same, saying the same things the same way. That’s not what this is. This is me thinking out loud about the stuff I actually care about, in my actual voice, with my actual opinions. If that resonates with you, amazing. If not, that’s cool too!
So what do I actually care about? A lot!!
Living life, and living longer. I’m fascinated by longevity science, metabolic health, the idea that we can extend not just how long we live but how well we live. I read everything I can get my hands on about this.
Technology and the future. I’m an eternal optimist about what tech can do for humanity. AI, clean energy, biotech. I think we’re living through one of the most transformative periods in human history and most people don’t even realize it!
Cars, especially EVs. I’m a car guy who went fully electric. Two Rivians in the driveway, 87,000 electric miles and counting, 31 tons of carbon kept out of the sky. I have a lot of thoughts about the EV transition and I’ve lived it firsthand.
The outdoors. I’m an environmentalist at my core. We are part of nature, not separate from it, and the fact that we’re destroying the ecosystems we belong to keeps me up at night. But I’m also hopeful because the technology to fix this is here!
My job. I work on IAM at AWS and honestly, it consumes me, but I love it! I love the challenge of building identity systems at massive scale. I love helping customers. And I’m obsessed with UX and CX. I’m always thinking about how to simplify the interaction between humans and computers. If the system makes the right thing harder than the wrong thing, that’s a design failure. I think about that constantly, not just at work but everywhere.
That’s what this site is. All of those things, all at once, unapologetically. Some posts will be about carbon math and EV road trips. Some will be about IAM permissions and developer experience. Some will be about longevity research or a new piece of tech that blew my mind. The thread that connects all of it is me. A person who can’t stop thinking, can’t stop tinkering, and finally decided to start writing it all down.
Let’s go!!
